Hi, I’m Sarah van wyk!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work in private practice in Greenville, SC. I have extensive training and experience working with women with Eating Disorders; in an in-patient and outpatient setting. Additionally, I work with anxiety, depression, emotional disorders, and trauma-related disorders. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and groups, and have served clients in residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. I provide services for clients suffering from mild to moderate mental health disorders of whom have the capacity to work through their disorder and solve problems with my assistance.

My areas of clinical specialty include: eating disorders and the full range of disordered eating (e.g., anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, chronic dieting, etc.), body image struggles, self-compassion and self-identity work, anxiety disorders, and general wellness and stress management issues.

My Approach to counseling

I have a laid-back and direct approach to counseling and believe in the value of relationships. I am a firm believer that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to promoting positive change and growth. I consider myself an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means that I utilize a variety of orientations and therapies, according to the client’s individual needs. I am passionate and excited about the work I do with each individual client. I work to build a safe, trusting and honest therapeutic relationship. As this relationship builds I guide, challenge, and encourage each individual to take the skills they are learning and the courage they are building to work towards the goals they have set. I want to help each one of my clients work towards being the best version of themselves!
